The sequel of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, titled Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, recently debuted, resuming its storyline after a time skip of three years. Many things have changed in the story, including the current Hokage of Konohagakure. Shikamaru Nara is the Eighth Hokage, and inarguably, the most intelligent Hokage of all time in the series.

Most Intelligent Hokage Of All Time In Naruto and Boruto Series
After the presumed death of the Seventh Hokage, Naruto, his advisor Shikamaru was chosen to inherit his position, now with Konohamaru as his assistant. Things have gotten more complicated than before as Konoha is hunting for Boruto who they believe has killed Naruto in an ultimate act of betrayal.
Shikamaru currently has a lot to deal with now that Naruto is presumed to be dead and Sasuke has deserted the village once again. He might be the most intelligent Hokage of Konoha, but that doesn’t mean he has it easy. Getting his memories altered has put him in a position of disadvantage, even though he doesn’t realize that yet.
But now that Boruto has returned to Konoha after three years at the end of the first chapter, we have to see what the most intelligent Hokage decides to do next.
Powers and Abilities
While Shikamaru was the first one out of the Konoha 12 who became a chunin, he was never one of the strongest. Instead, he was the most intelligent out of his peers, his intelligence surprising even adults and eminent people. His quick thinking and wisdom of politics had earned him the position as the advisor of the Seventh Hokage, and now, the position of the Eighth Hokage.
- As a member of the Nara clan, Shikamaru has inherited their signature shadow techniques. His go-to technique is the Shadow Imitation Technique, in which he attaches his shadow to his opponents’ shadows and controls their movements.Â
- Another jutsu he has been seen using multiple times is the Shadow Neck-Binding Technique, in which he allows his shadow to attach to his opponents’ shadows and shape his own shadow into limb-like shapes that can strangle someone and even pick up things.
- None of these techniques are overly powerful, and truthfully, aren’t very effective against powerful opponents. But then again, his true power lies in his sharp intelligence which makes him one of the most valuable assets for Konoha. Shikamaru has already devised multiple missions and interrogations over the years, and his leadership skills are one of the reasons why he is chosen to succeed Naruto as the Eighth Hokage.
Shikamaru has an IQ over 200 which makes him a genius and officially the most intelligent Hokage in the series. Now when Kawaki has manipulated the memories of the entire world with Eida’s Omnipotence, Shikamaru is actively working to find Boruto, all the while trying to deal with Code and the dangers that are imminent to Konoha.
