How Powerful Is Sukuna In Megumi’s Body? Explained (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Exorcism is a method by which cursed spirits are banished from a human’s body or a place. Jujutsu Kaisen revolves around sorcerors who have the ability to exorcise such spirits using cursed energy.

Yuji Itadori is the protagonist of the story, and Sukuna is a cursed spirit residing within him. Megumi Fushiguro is the deuteragonist of Jujutsu Kaisen. Sukuna has taken an interest in Megumi and has sinister plans of his own.

Let’s take a closer look at the connection between Sukuna and Megumi.

Who is Sukuna, and why is he interested in Megimi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Sukuna was a powerful human sorcerer that walked the earth a thousand years ago. It was considered the “golden age” of Jujutsu.

Sukuna had four arms and mastery over many cursed techniques. He defeated and massacred many Jujutsu sorcerors. After his death, he became a cursed spirit.

He was too strong to be exorcised, so his twenty fingers were cut off and sealed as cursed objects.

Sukuna reincarnated in Yuji Itadori’s body when he swallowed one such finger in the Cursed Child Arc of the manga in order to protect his friend from a cursed spirit.

Sukuna and Megumi came face to face for the first time in The Detention Center Case. Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara were assigned to exorcise a special-grade curse. Yuji unleashed Sukuna in order to defeat the curse, but he was not able to regain consciousness.

Sukuna and Megumi had a short battle in which Megumi used her Ten Shadow Technique. Megumi can summon a cursed animal by weaving hand signs for it. Sukuna was impressed by his shikigami.

Ten Shadow Technique is a shikigami that has been passed down through the Zenin family line. Sukuna had never witnessed this shikigami before and was impressed by it.

There were many reasons to believe that Sukuna had some sinister plans revolving around Megumi.

Sukuna is a self-absorbed spirit, sinister to the core. He is constantly planning how to regain his strength and break free. It seemed that he had started devising plans to take over Megumi’s body.

In the Cursed Womb Arc, Sukuna lets Megumi live for his Shikigami. He monitors Megumi’s growth while sitting in Yuji’s body.

Sukuna appreciates Megumi’s strength in Cursed Womb: The Death Painting Arc. Megumi used his domain for the first time in the manga to defeat Kechizu. His domain was not perfect, but it was strong.

In the Shibuya Incident Arc, Megumi summoned the Eight-Handed Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga, the most powerful Shikigami of the Ten-Shadow Technique. No Ten Shadow Technique user in the Zenin clan has been able to tame it.

After being severely injured by Haruto Shigemo, Megumi summoned Maharoga as a last resort. Sukuna not only defeated Maharoga but also saved Megumi’s life.

Sukuna is a dark character through and through. He does not have a soft or weak side to him. He will not move a finger if it does not serve one of his selfish motives.

There were many speculations about Sukuna and Megumi. Sukuna wanted to take over Megumi’s body as a vessel. The current arc confirms it.

Sukuna took control of Yuji Itadori’s body and plucked off one of his fingers. He made Megumi Fushiguro swallow that finger and manifest himself in his body. Sukuna revealed that he had been eyeing such a moment for a long time.

In Shibuya Arc, Sukuna told Uraume to prepare well for some rituals, as he would be completely free in some time.

Sukuna wanted to make sure that Megumi became his vessel, not a cage like Yuji. He waited for Megumi to be at her most vulnerable mentally. Megumi is shaken upon realizing that his elder sister’s body has been taken over by a cursed spirit, Yorozu. Sukuna takes advantage of the moment.

In the chapter, Sukuna is using Megumi’s Ten Shadow Technique to summon his Shikigami. Megumi also has higher strength levels as he punches Yuji and sends him crashing across several buildings.

Yuji’s cursed power showed a substantial increase with Sukuna. Yuji is one of the most talented students at Tokyo Jujutsu High School of Sorcery. Gojo Satoru compared him to Yuta Okkotsu and Kinji Hakari and believes Yuji has the potential to outperform them in strength. Yuji is new to the Jujutsu world, but within a very short time, he has been able to exorcise special-grade curses.

Yuji is a skilled martial arts practitioner on par with the likes of Aoi Todo. Megumi is also an expert hand-to-hand combatant. He is not afraid of close encounters and is even ready to challenge Sukuna to a fistfight.

When Yuji Itadori relies mostly on his strength, Megumi Fushiguro relies on her high intellect to think of strategies and ways to counter an enemy. He focuses on outwitting his opponent and defeating him mentally, just like Sukuna. with Sukuna taking over him; he will be a cunning sorcerer, unpredictable and dangerous.

Both Yuji and Megumi have highly enhanced stamina and durability. Yuji’s superhuman abilities grant him high durability, allowing him to withstand heavy blows and the stamina to fight for an extended period of time. Yuji kept on fighting with the finger bearer, even when his hand was severed.

Megumi has a high pain tolerance and can remain standing even when seriously wounded. He withstood direct attacks from Aoi Todo. Sukuna even beat down Megumi, but she escaped with minor injuries. Megumi’s strength and durability will increase manifold, given the unlimited cursed energy of Sukuna.

Yuji can recover from grievous wounds because of Sukuna. Sukuna healed his severed hand and heart, which brought him back from death. Even in a fight,

Megumi can heal quickly, but with Sukuna, he will not have to worry about dodging heavy blows or strong weapons and attack with full force.

Yuji is also immune to all sorts of poison, with Sukuna sealed inside him. He is able to resist Moon Dregs’ poison when fighting Junpei. Yuji is not trained to use any cursed weapon, but his immense physical strength makes up for it. Megumi, however, can use both conventional and cursed tools.

Megumi will develop an immunity to all sorts of poison which might encourage him to use poisoned, cursed tools instead of simple ones.

Sukuma and Megumi Combined: New Abilities

Megumi is a Jujutsu sorcerer of grade 2. Sukuna was waiting for the right opportunity to take over his body. With Sukuna within his body, Megumi will become a formidable enemy for even the most powerful of the Jujutsu sorcerors.

In the current arc, Sukuna is finally able to take over Megumi’s body. He punches Yuji, throwing him across several buildings, and with his infinite cursed energy, he is able to summon Megumi’s Shikigami Nue, which is larger and more powerful than the one summoned by Megumi.

Megumi’s Shikigami animals will be larger and more powerful than before, given the infinite cursed energy source of Sukuna. He will not have to worry about preserving his cursed energy in a fight and summoning as many Shikigami as he wants.

Sukuna summons Nue, a winged Shikigami with electro-shock wings. Nue, when summoned by Sukuna, was of humongous size, way larger than the original Shikigami. Nue no longer appears to be a mode of transportation or messenger. It appears like a huge black eagle, ready to pounce on its prey.

The divine black dog, paired with Sukuna’s infinite cursed energy, will have enhanced tracking abilities, more like a wolf. The sharp fangs might grow strong enough to tear apart a curse in an instant.

Toad Shikigami might grow poisonous with Sukuna’s poison and not just ensnare and throw away its enemies; the Toad might gain the ability to gulp them down.

The great serpent might become Sukuna’s favorite, given his cold and sadistic personality. The serpent specializes in making surprise attacks on the enemy and restricting their movements by trapping them with its body.

With size, speed, and poison, the Great serpent might become one of the magnificent beasts in Sukuna’s malevolent shrine.

Summoning and using the Max Elephant requires a lot of cursed energy. With Sukuna, Megumi will have an unlimited cursed energy core. The Max Elephant might start resembling a mammoth and spew fire instead of water with its trunk.

Rabbit Escape, as the name suggests, is a Shikigami for distracting the opponent. A swarm of rabbits creates chaos to help the user escape danger. With Sukuna, the rabbits might not remain as little distractions but as huge rodents that might be capable of devouring their enemies with sharp teeth and claws.

New Domain Expansion (theory)

Sukuna and Megumi New Domain Expansion
Sukuna and Megumi New Domain Expansion

Sukuna and Megumi have a common type of domain. Both their domains don’t have a barrier around them. Without an outer barrier, the enemy trapped inside has a chance to escape.

But on the other hand, it increases the efficiency and range of the domain attack. Domains with an outer barrier can be nullified by an outside attack. This flaw does not exist in the domain without an outer barrier.

Megumi’s domain expansion is the Chimera Shadow Garden, which floods an area like a swamp. Megumi can make as many shikigami as he wants in his domain.

When fighting under the Yasohachi bridge, Megumi unleashed his domain on the cursed spirit. Megumi’s domain is not complete yet, but it improves his Ten Shadow Technique by up to ninety-ten percent.

Sukuna’s Domain expansion is The Malevolent Shrine. A structure that looks like an entry to a shrine hosting a demon.

When Sukuna took over Yuji’s consciousness to fight a special-grade spirit, he expanded his domain. Within a second, the finger bearer lay sliced into vertical pieces and later burned off into the abyss.

Sukuna wanted to acquire Megumi’s body primarily for the Ten Shadow Techniques possessed by Megumi. Perhaps he can combine both domains and create a domain hell that holds monstrous beasts that Sukuna wants to create using Megumi’s Shikigami.
