Oda Exhibits The End of Old Era In One Piece Chapter 1087

As the spoilers and raw scans of One Piece Chapter 1087 are out, it is finally the end of the old era in One Piece. The creator, Eiichiro Oda, has been evenly moving towards taking the old and formidable players out of the way to make the stage for the new generation, and with One Piece Chapter 1087, he finally achieved that.

The old generation consisted of legendary figures like the King of Pirates: Gol D. Roger, his first mate Silvers Rayleigh, the admiral and helmsman of Golden Lion Pirates: Shiki, the captain of Whitebeard Pirates: Edward Newgate aka Whitebeard, and the Hero of the Marines: Monkey D. Garp among others.

The End of Old Era

But with Roger’s execution, the most prominent pirate of the world was gone. Then Shiki was imprisoned, and after he escaped, he remained out of the hands of the Marines until he was defeated by the Straw Hat Pirates. Though his status is still unconfirmed, he’s unlikely to return.

Whitebeard was also taken out of the picture during the Paramount War where Whitebeard Pirates fought against the Marines at Marineford to save Ace. After suffering numerous wounds, Whitebeard died mysterious at the hands of Marshall D. Teach aka Blackbeard when the latter stole his devil fruit.

Rayleigh, despite still being very strong and even training Luffy, has clearly stated that he’s grown old, and will not be fighting Blackbeard. And now, with One Piece Chapter 1087, Garp is also out of commission. He will not die, but his defeat very loudly marks the end of the old era.
